About Me

Vintage compass

Hi, and thanks for dropping by. I’m Michał Huniewicz, a photographer, digital painter, amateur musician, and data engineer based in London.

My photography and writing have been featured by National Geographic, CNN, PBS, Business Insider, the Outside Magazine, the Telegraph, Stern, Metro, the Travel Stories, the Daily Mail, Roads and Kingdoms, la Repubblica, TVN, Wyborcza.pl, and many others. Discovery even made a video show dedicated to my trip to Mauritania, and my work has been exhibited internationally.

People often ask what equipment I use. I’ve shot with Nikon D70, D300s, and most recently the D810. From Fujifilm, I have used the X100T, then the X-E4, and now the X-H2s.

In fairness, I have been on a bit of a photography hiatus for a while. Lately I’ve been exploring digital painting — you’ll find a small selection here on the site.

Social media was initially a fun and rewarding journey, but less and less so, until it became a source of frustration. This is why I deleted most of my social media, keeping only Flickr since people use it to find my photos and use them, often for educational purposes, which I support.

There was a blog I ran, dedicated to programming — that is now a thing of the past as well.

If you want to use my photos for educational purposes — do get in touch. Other purposes, let me know, too.
